Creative industries are slowly becoming the backbone of the economy. The potential is all the more promising because it is the sector that has proven to survive all dynamics, including when the Covid-19 pandemic occurs.
The Ministry of Commerce defines creative industries as economic activities that focus on the creation of goods and services by relying on expertise, talent, and creativity as intellectual property.
This utilization of creation power and copyright power is expected to be used to create welfare as well as employment.
In addition to being beneficial for the country’s economic entry, the industry is also a place to foster creative Indonesian society, increase business competition in health, increase business innovation in various sectors, and be able to curb the growth rate of unemployment in Indonesia.
According to Inpres No. 6 In 2009 on Creative Economy Development, there are several main subsectors that need to be developed namely the following.
1. Music industry
Music industry is defined as creative activities related to creation/production, performance, reproduction, and distribution of sound recordings.
Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy optimistic put music as one of the subsectors to be managed to the maximum.
They provide facilities for music industry players, among other things, the protection of HKI so that it can reduce piracy, initiate the formation of musical incubator, open up modal access to the music industry, and build a healthy music business ecosystem.
2. Culinary industry
As the largest contributor to creative economic growth in the world data annually about 43% of the total GDP of the tourism sector and the creative economy.

Crafts is defined as creative activities related to the creation, production, and distribution of products made by the craftsman’s workforce ranging from the initial design to the completion process of his products.
Crafts good in question includes those made of precious stones, natural and artificial fibers, leather, rattan, bamboo, wood, metal (gold, silver, copper, bronze, iron), glass, porcelains, cloth, marble, clay, and lime.
Craft products in general is only produced in relatively small quantities and not mass production.
Architecture can defined as creative activities related to building design services, construction cost planning, heritage building conservation, construction supervision both thoroughly from macro level such as contemplation region and city, up to micro level or construction detail, for example, garden architecture and interior design.
Publishing creative activities related to the writing of content and the publishing of books, journals, newspapers, magazines, tabloids, and digital content as well as the activities of news agencies and news sellers.
This subsector also includes the issuance of stamps, currency, banknotes, blank check, current account, share notes, stock letter bonds, and other securities.
Publishing also covers photo printing, graphic, postcards, forms, posters, paintings, and other print items, including microfilm recordings.
6. Research and development
Research and development or often referred to as a research and development process constitutes creative activities associated with innovative ventures offering science and technology discoveries.
It was for product improvements and new product creations, new processes, new materials, new tools, new methods, and new technologies that can meet market needs; including those related to humanities such as research and development of language, literature, and the arts; as well as business and management consultancy services.
Such creative industry players are required to always think innovatively in order to stay afloat, especially in pandemic times like today.
In addition to bringing about an impact on the economy in Indonesia, the pandemic is also predicted to change lifestyles and jobs.
Therefore, creative industries must continue to adapt to government regulation and people’s needs.
